Expected
side effects of Celebrex
use may include:
· Stomach pain
· Sinus inflammation
· Upper respiratory tract infection
· Headache
· Diarrhea
· Nausea
· Indigestion
Reported
but disputed side effects of Celebrex use may include:
· Death
· Heart attack
· Stroke
· Seizure
· Kidney damage
· Liver damage
· Pregnancy complications
· Birth defects
· High blood pressure
These
side effects have been reported in the Journal
of the American Medical Association. Their analysis of 8,076
users of Vioxx, a Cox-2 inhibitor like Celebrex, showed that users
were at four times the risk of serious cardiovascular problems as
non-users. It also showed that the users were at twice the risk
as users of more traditional arthritis medications like naproxin.
The FDA is investigating the situation and may add warning labels
to the medications. Pharmacia,
the makers of Celebrex, dispute the findings.
